true diversity cannot exist without neurodiversity.

What box are we talking about?

According to the Center for Disease Control, 1 in every 59 people in the United States is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.

It is reported by Statista.com that there are 21.13 million people between the ages of 15 and 19 in the United States.

Doing the math, there are 358,136 college aged students on the autism spectrum.

We have a social responsibility to provide the opportunity for a quality post-secondary education at institutions of their choice to all 358,136 of these students should they choose to pursue it and qualify academically.

Qualifying academically, however, has become very difficult for these students as the selectivity of top institutions has increased.   They should be able to check a box on the common app to identify with a new admissions diversity category - neurodiversity.
